Club Alpbach Belgium Brussels (CABB) is the Belgian chapter of the European Forum Alpbach, an international forum of ideas started in 1947. The Forum is a space and place for the emergence of reflection and action, bringing together young people with the most innovative minds from numerous disciplines to drive ideas for a strong and democratic Europe.
CABB aims to bring this interdisciplinary, informal, and intergenerational spirit to Brussels by organising fireside chats and other events with influential individuals in the EU and Belgium. We also grant scholarships to young people enabling them to attend the European Forum Alpbach.
Club Alpbach Belgium Brussels asbl’s mission is to bring the Alpbach spirit to Brussels.
Every year: we host a number of socials for informal exchange (“fireside chats”) with leading personalities.
Every spring: we award scholarships to committed students to attend the European Forum Alpbach in August.
Every summer: we play an active role at the Forum itself by hosting informal discussion events with keynote speakers.
In the past, we have had the privilege of receiving, among others, several European Commissioners (Johannes Hahn, Violeta Bulc, Kristalina Georgieva), a Vice-President of the European Parliament (Ulrike Lunacek) and the former director of the World Trade Organisation (Pascal Lamy).
The European Forum Alpbach 2026 will take place from 24 August to 4 September 2026. This year, EFA's theme invites us to rethink strategies on how Europe can win. The "How Europe Wins" theme for EFA 2026 is a reflection on Europe's performance gaps to start competing in a rapidly-changing global landscape. We will debate on Europe’s unique strengths and the strategic partnerships needed to actually win on the issues that matter. The goal is to move beyond the status quo and engage young thinkers and experienced decision-makers to bring home concrete actions that design for victory. More on the theme can be found here.
This year, Club Alpbach Belgium Brussels dedicates it's efforts on 3 main focus topics. These topics shape the base of the events we organise in Brussels and Alpbach. Based on the focus topcis, we strive to spark lively discussions with our members and interact with respected speakers from related backgrounds.
Securing Europe’s independent capacity to act through resilient supply chains, robust defense capabilities, and reduced global dependencies.
Aligning local, national, and EU institutions with international allies to eliminate systemic friction and amplify collective influence.
Integrating climate goals with technological innovation to drive a sustainable, high-tech competitive advantage for European industry.
